Here is a gorgeous example of a Confederate Block "C" cavalry button as worn on the uniform coat of a Southern enlisted trooper. The brass coat size cavalry button is of two piece construction with an edge border and is in superb condition. Classed in Albert's reference volume as a "CS 126A", this good looking, 25mm brass specimen exhibits a stippled, Roman block letter "C" displayed upon the gold gilt face that has a smooth shiny background. Some of the surface finish has rubbed away, leaving a pleasing darker patina contrasting with the brighter edge areas of the button. Button back has a fine maker mark – “ * H T & B * MANCHESTER”. Shank is strong and tight. This highly desirable button specimen is in excellent condition with no blemishes, dents or depressions about it. An original, beautiful Confederate uniform block "C" button that is must-have in any Southern display or Civil War collection. [ra]
