Circa 1850's, two part convex coat size button. Star count is artistic and not symbolic. Button depicts symbolism of New Hampshire, a sailing ship, inscription "New = Hampshire / * Vol. Militia * ". This die pattern depicts the flag with a calm flutter, double hyphen in the inscription, the foremast falls between the "E" and "W". BM: "SCOVILL MF'G. CO. / (dot) WATERBURY. (dot)" rmdc on a plain field. Very fine condition, nice gilt patina. Shank present & straight. Albert's NH6, Tice's NH200A2.
