Early lithograph of General Lee’s Farewell Address is housed in a gilt Victorian oval frame. It features a nice image of Lee flanked by four Confederate flags.
Frame measures 14 ¼” by 12 ¼”. Wire is mounted on reverse for hanging. Black paper covering back of frame has a piece torn off at the bottom. Front of frame has a couple of nicks plus two sections where veneer has broken off of frame. This could be repaired with wood putty and gilt paint.
Lithograph was done by A. Hoen & Co. of Baltimore. Dated 1866. [sl]
Note: Vintage frame with modern backing materials; appears to have plexiglass instead of glass.
