This is a framed discharge form (document meas. 7 7/8" x 9 7/8; frame meas. 11 1/2" x 14") that has been enhanced by portions being filled in with red and blue ink. The piece is framed with Plexiglas front and back so both sides can be viewed. This is John T. Erisman’s discharge from the Veteran Reserve Corps dated September 22, 1865. Scrolls added to the top of the form read, “Transferred from Co. F, 17th Pa. Cav.ly”.
The Civil War Database has John T. Erisman enlisting as a Bugler in the 17th Pa. Cavalry in September of 1862 for three years’ service. He was transferred to the V.R.C. on December 9, 1863.
The page has a portion of the top, left corner missing, a piece which did not have any printing on it. The document overall has stains, fine wrinkles, and folds…none of which take away from the colorful and attractive nature of the document. [jet]
Note: Discharge is easily removable from modern frame upon request at time of purchase.
