Volume LXIII/ Number 320. Four pages, 12.25 x 9”, three columns. Exhibits chipping and some paper loss at the extremities, particularly to the second page, which has an approx. 2” x 2” piece missing at a lower corner, and a 5” tear inward from one edge, which a narrow wedge of paper missing. The back of the second page has some old tape repairs;  Else entirely legible.

Printed daily, the Alexandria Gazette specialized in printing bits and pieces information gossip, primarily from other publications. For example, in this issue: (1) “A dispatch from the headquarters of the Army of the Potomac states that matters continued quiet on the Rappahannock…. (2) “An army correspondent of the New York Tribune, writing from Tobago Bay, thirty miles below Fredericksburg, on Christmas Day: Four thousand cavalry are now guarding the river from size miles below Fredericksburg to Tobago bay, …. 3) “It was reported at Louisville on Monday that a Federal brigade had captured Knoxville, Tenn., and destroyed four bridges and a large portion of the railroad between that place and Dandrige….”.
