Cushing (brother of Alonzo Cushing of Gettysburg fame) and a dramatic illustration of Cushing’s daring destruction of the Rebel Ram “Albemarle” at Plymouth, North Carolina. Interior illustrations include a full page sketch of the “Reception at the War Department, October 29, 1864, of Guns Captured From the Enemy by General Sheridan. Also sketches of the “Rodman 20 Inch Gun, Tested at Ft. Hamilton,” and General Hood’s Confederate “Attack On Allatoona, GA, October 5, 1 1864.” With stories to match, plus numerous other striking illustrations, in an issue exceptionally loaded with them.
Exhibits mounting dots at the front left margin. Else fine, w/smooth handsome cover. Solid collectible. In protective sleeve w/ white card backing. [jp]
