“War Department / Washington, July 6, 1861.” Addressed to Mayor Henry, Philadelphia, Pa. Directs and authorizes Messrs. Dale, Rose & Co. of his city to “forward to the care of the commander of the U.S. Forces at Cairo (Ill.) certain revolvers, which they inform me have been ordered by then by Mr. J. T. Bolinger of Mayfield, KY for defense of himself and neighbors against secession outrages”.
Nicely framed with steel engraving of Cameron. Measures 26 ½” x 19 ½”.Contains plexiglass, not glass.
