This Model 1799 pattern bayonet is an original, quadrangular blade socket device in very good condition. Made for use with variant Austrian / Hungarian army muskets during the period 1799 through 1860, this steel bayonet features the unusual quadrangular-blade characteristic and no mortise slot in the socket. The four-edge blade is 39 cm long, a width of 2.7 cm, and a thickness of 1.8 cm. Bayonet has a notched eccentric ring on the socket brim to secure it beneath a musket barrel. Various numbers are stamped on the brim. Total length of the bayo is 47 cm. This bayonet specimen, in very good original condition, would enhance any military edged weapon collection.
