Standard issue bayonet w triangular blade measuring 17” in length, .75” in width at base [overall length 20.25”]. Three crown markings at base of blade. Socket markings: “4/ 17/w/downward pointing arrow”. Blade exhibits bright salt & pepper patina with scattered age condensation shadows & light pitting near the tip. Socket patina medium gray with some tarnish. Locking ring functional. Excellent strong black leather scabbard with tight stitching & brass tip and frog throat attachments. Overall, solid and attractive. Fine P1853 Enfield collectible.
