Very rare Confederate bayonet made by the Richmond Armory for issue with the Richmond rifle-musket. This is the more desirable fluted type issued with newly made arms (the armory also made a simpler and cheaper non-fluted type provided with repaired arms). The bayonet clearly exhibits the telltale Richmond-made attributes of the off-center ring screw and the dis-colorization present where the steel blade arm meets the iron socket. The condition is exceptional. A very hard to find and desirable Confederate bayonet in this condition! [SK]
