This bayonet was meant for use on the M1 rifle and was produced by the American Fork & Hoe Company of Geneva, Ohio.
The bayonet meas. approx. 20.50 inches from point to pommel.
The 16.00 inch blade is bright with light scattered mottling and no pitting worth mentioning. At center is a fuller that is approx. 11.75 inches long. One side of the ricasso is stamped with “A.F.H.” over a bursting bomb flanked by “US” over the year “1943.” Blade edge has not been sharpened.
Elliptical iron cross guard is clean and has a muzzle ring at top.
Grip is made of brown ribbed plastic or Bakelite with an iron central tang and pommel. Base of the grip has a working catch.
Scabbard is made of resin impregnated cotton duck fabric painted green with a white metal throat. Throat has a very faint bursting bomb with “US” at center.
Item has light surface dirt but is in overall good condition. [sr]
