Overall the bayonet meas. approx. 25.25 inches long. The blade itself is 20.25 inches long with a semi-bright surface and moderate scattered mottling with minor pitting in the point area. There are also several very small spots of surface rust. At center is a 13.25 fuller. One side of the ricasso is clearly stamped “1861” while the opposite side has a faint marking of “COLLINS & COMPANY, HARTFORD, CONN” in three lines.
Hilt is of cast brass with a ribbed grip and a working locking mechanism and clear lug mortise. Brass exhibits some light wear. Top of the grip is stamped with “888.” [ad]
