This is an original Model 1855 socket bayonet for .58 caliber Civil War era Springfield rifle muskets. Measures approximately 21” overall.
This specimen features a smooth, clean, and bright metal surface; nearly a mirror finish. Only a few small dark “age spots”. Original working locking ring and screw. Large “US” boldly stamped on blade flat.
