Maker mark, “Wade & Butcher / Sheffield / England”. Mid-blade marking: “XCD” with banner & word “exceed”. Overall length 11.125”, with clipped point 7” Bowie blade. Sharp blade, clean & bright, with light scratching and traces of pitting. Handle assembly is tight, with German silver crossguard, and stag handle, secured by three rivets. Exhibits slight wear. Else VG plus, and highly attractive. Wade and Butcher “XCD” Bowie knives were highly regarded, and sold well from the California Gold Rush days to the turn of the century.
