Presented here is an original, antique, clip point, bowie hunting knife made by the John Newton Company of Sheffield, England in the early 1900s. The handsome side knife comes without a scabbard. Knife measures 10¼” long, point to pommel and features a single-edged, forged steel blade. Stamped on the reverse ricasso of the blade is the maker address of “JOHN / NEWTON & Co./ SHEFFIELD.” Stamping is thin but readily visible. Blade is 6” long, 7/8” wide at the ricasso and runs to a fine 2” long clip point. Blade sharp. A plain, brass cross guard off-sets the antique two-piece stag handle that is riveted to the tang with four small pins. Blade exhibits very light surface rust pitting. No edge nicks. A fine condition, antique hunting knife. No sheath.
