This iconic knife measures 13 1/2” overall with an 8 1/2” wide, single-edged blade. The steel blade has a mostly bright patina with some spots of dark freckling. Some small chips are present on blade. Brass guard is stamped "U.S./Springfield" on throat with "2468" on opposite side. The 17 groove oak handle has light wear and a surface crack with small chips at the end of the pommel.
Leather scabbard has light crazing all over. Heavier crazing on area where torn loop tab originally held a brass belt hook. All stitching is tight. Brass plate has some verdigris.
This is a very nice example of a popular U.S. military knife. [sm]
