This “Damascus” style knife features a double-edged blade, curved, and ornately decorated. Its style originated in Yemen. and for centuries fine Damascus knives of this type have been regarded as status symbols in Arabic countries round the Mediterranean.
Overall length 13”, blade length 9.5”, 1.25” width at the base. Ornamentation features intricate bronze floral patterns at the cross guard, shifting to even more intricate wave-like figures running forward to the tip. The blade is beautifully crafted, as is the wooden handle, nicely riveted and flaring handsomely out at the base. VG plus overall. An elegant blade of the type favored by Lawrence of Arabia. [jp]
