Relatively large eagle pommel integral backstrap with feathers engraved/cast down the entire length to the plain brass ferrule. Sharkskin wrapped grip with fancy wire wrap. Open two branch guard with a wing spread American eagle atop a fouled anchor, surrounded by oak leaf wreath. Small fold down counterguard. Blade measures 30 2.5” long x 1.175” wide. Blade is maker marked, “WEYERSBERG BROTHERS / SOLINGEN” on the reverse. Dealer marked “F.W. WIDMANN / PHILADELPHIA” on the obverse. Blade has some light pitting, etchings of scroll/leaf designs, panoply of arms, riband with “LIBERTY”, American eagle, etc. Unfortunately sword has no scabbard. [ss]
