Model: M 1840 General Officer’s Sword

Size: 32.25 inch blade

Condition: Mint

This sword is a real screamer and is mint from top to bottom. Gilt brass guard with folding counter guard has 99% full gilt remaining. Pommel is urn shaped with a capstan nut. Grip is sheet silver stamped in a wire pattern which has turned a deep patina.  The counter guard button functions perfectly. Blade is also mint with standard Weyersberg etch of the 1840 time period.  Obverse blade is foliate / urn-foliate / US surrounded by rays / foliate.  Reverse has kings head stamp of Weyersberg / fan foliate / foliate / US eagle under rays / foliate.  Blade is single edged.  Brass scabbard is engraved and has full gilt.  Gilt brass General Officer scabbard is engraved with foliate, and American Eagle holding a federal shield and a then foliate. The reverse throat area has the applied Horstmann address scroll, The drag is deeply engraved as well. Scabbard has double rings on the top with a frog attachment and then a single ring in the middle. Has a few very minor dings. The best of the best.
