A nice example of the classic "wrist breaker" used before and during the Civil War.
The curved blade is over 35” in length. This sword is completely unmarked. The blade is clean and bright. There are no edge nicks. The scalloped leather washer remains in place.
The brass hilt has two branches and knuckle bow. The pommel is of the Phrygian helmet style. All brass has very dark patina. The leather wrapped grip is in excellent condition as well as the twisted wire wrap.
The steel scabbard has a light gray with no dents and some scattered light surface rust. Crude visible seam. It has two large iron mounting rings. The large drag shows no wear.
This is a nice, complete “Wrist breaker”. [jet] [ph:L]
