Here is a handsome set of two-piece, gutta percha pistol grips commonly seen on small caliber handguns. These unmarked specimens are in excellent condition and both exhibit a military motif design on the grips of a spreadwinged eagle clutching a group of arrows in its talons. The grips, sometimes referred to as 'black rubber', measure 2¼" at their longest point and 1" at their widest point. These are fine artifacts and exhibit no cracks, chips or blemishes. The center retaining screw is still present. In the shop, we have a similar size and set of gutta percha grips that adorn a 'C.S. Shattuck' patent, small caliber revolver made in Hatfield, Mass. c. 1880's. These good-looking specimens are a wonderful example of small pistol grips common in post Civil War America.
