Complete cartridge for the .52 caliber Sharps carbine or rifle in excellent condition. The cartridge case is rolled of fine linen and tissue paper was glued to close the back end. This tube was then filled with gun powder and glued to the bullet. Upon firing, the percussion cap burnt through the tissue paper and ignited the charge and propelling the bullet. The paper and linen were expected to be totally consumed during firing. The condition of this specimen is as good as you can find. [jet]
