This original, Eley Brothers black japanned tin at one time held hundreds of small copper primers or percussion caps for use with cap and ball percussion arms. Tin is empty. Caps are housed in their cylindrical, two-piece tin case or can which exhibits a black-coated japanned exterior. Maker’s mark is embossed on the lid surface and reads “ELEY BROS / LONDON". Tin case measures 1¼” high and has a 1½” diameter. Very good condition with scattered scratches on the surface.
