.54 Caliber, smoothbore percussion single shot. Lock-plate markings: “N.P. ADAMS/SPRINGFIELD/ MASS……USN/ 1844”. Barrel markings: “JCB/P”. Inspector cartouches, left wrist: “RP” & “JL”. Case hardened lock-plate and hammer. 6” barrel exhibits pitting, lightly moderate. Brass butt plate, trigger mounting, front-barrel band, Minor dings to the latter. Bore displays light rust. The walnut stock exhibits wear customary with age and usage. Else VG. Solid, attractive piece.
