This single shot pistols were turned out by the firm of Morgan & Clapp of New Haven, Connecticut from about 1864 to 1866. Approx. 500 were made.
Weapon is .30 and has a 3.00 octagonal barrel. Bore is dark but has good rifling and may clean up. Barrel has brass blade type front sight with a rear sight notch cut into the hammer. Barrel has strong two line stamping that reads “MORGAN & CLAPP / NEW HAVE, CT.” Barrel has some hints of blue but is mostly gray with moderate mottling and light scattered pitting.
Frame is brass has a spur trigger. Hammer operated properly at both half and full cock.
Grips are walnut with much original finish and a flat bottom.
Weapon is loaded by placing the hammer at half cock and then depressing a button on the forward bottom section of the frame which allows the barrel to swing out. This all operates properly. [ad]
