.34 caliber, single shot, percussion pistol, made between 1868-1873. Total number of these produced is 5,000. Not serial numbered. Known as a “Poor Man’s Deringer”, this gun is about 7” in length. Four-inch round barrel that screws into a brass frame. Walnut grips. Spur trigger. Mechanics are strong and crisp. Brass frame has worn stamp on left side: “HERO / M.F.A. Co.” Gun metal is clean and smooth; brass is clean with mellow patina.

Interesting “boot” or “pocket” weapon and believed to be final production type made by Manhattan Arms Company.  [jet]
