FLINTLOCK PISTOL – BELGIAN COPY OF M1836 PISTOL

$1,150.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1111-03

This sidearm is a Belgian copy of the Model 1836 single-shot pistol. The 16” long pistol is a .54 caliber smoothbore muzzleloader that has a 10” round barrel with a clear bore. Barrel is a mottled gray with some light pitting around the touch hole. All iron furniture and mountings about the same. Barrel has a brass blade front sight and an oval shaped rear sight on breech tang.  An oval Liege stamp is found on the left side of breech and is partially covered by the stock. The lockplate is flat with beveled edges forward of the hammer and convex at the rear.   No maker name on the lockplate, only a stamp at top edge between pan and hammer that looks like a crown over an “M”.   Lockplate plain behind the hammer.  Frizzen pan is brass. All mechanics are crisp and strong.

The stock exhibits a light brown patina overall with few nicks or dings. There is wear on the edges of the ramrod channel. One small undiscernible stamp is found on the left flat behind the plate and screw heads.  A single barrel band is fitted on the fore stock; underside stamped “DW” or “DV”. Trigger guard, round buttcap, and back strap are all in good condition. Weapon has a swivel-type steel button-head ramrod.

Comes with nice display case.

This is a very nice single-shot, Belgian-made flintlock pistol.   [jet]
