Exceptional Like-New example of the standard Japanese 8mm service pistol of World War II.  This pistol is impossible to upgrade.  Principal markings include:

“18392” (serial number).

Kanji characters Shachi and arsenal designation: (manufacturer).

Kanji character Sho and “19.2” (date of manufacture: “Showa Year 19.2” or February 1944).

Kanji characters Ju-Yon-Nen-Shiki (model: “Year 14 Type”).

The condition of this Type 14 is the best we have ever seen!  The gun has 99 percent of the blued finish remaining and exhibits no handling marks, scratches, or dings.  The wooden grip panels also remain in perfect condition.  As expected, all the serial numbers match, including the magazine, grip panels, and firing pin.

This example was made by the Nagoya Arsenal, Toriimatsu Factory, in 1944.  The Toriimatsu Factory made approximately 58,000 Type 14 pistols in 1944.  The cocking knob is the simplified knurled type introduced in late 1943.

Great opportunity to acquire a Like-New Collector Grade example of a classic World War II Japanese pistol.  This Type 14 entered service before the battles of Saipan, Guam, Tinian, and Leyte Gulf.  The crucial year of 1944 heralded the arrival of a Tsunami of American military might that would soon overwhelm Imperial Japan!  [SK][ph:L]
