This ‘T. B. Pritchett’ London-made, double barrel, percussion shotgun is a pinfire large gauge (10 or 12) side by side. The circa 1850’s hunting piece is identified to a “FRANK L. POWELL. / 834 ELMWOOD AVENUE / BUFFALO, N.Y.” Shotgun features a 30” long barrel marked with “London Fine Twist.” Iron frame, lockplate, hammers, triggerguard, and barrel tang all are intricately engraved with floral, geometric and hunting motifs. Lockplate tang stamped “T. B. PRITCHETT” on both sides. Barrel surface shows a dark plum patina along with scattered rust pitting and areas of oxidation. Also visible is the thin twist of the metal of the barrel. Tiny bead front sight. Mechanics good. Slight wear at the stock hinge pin. Wood stock is in very good condition with factory checkering at the wrist area and on the forend. Retains the locking wedge or key through the forend at center. Tip of forend exhibits an old repair with an inlaid wooden wedge. Shotgun has no ramrod.
