Total quantity made 11,495. Lock markings of an eagle with “US/TRENTON” forward of hammer and dated “1863” at rear. Barrel is also dated 1863 with letter “E” on breech flat. No doubt Company E markings. Manufactured for the State of New Jersey. Barrel and stock with correct “N.J.” markings. Stock also with a 5 pointed star next to the NJ cartouche. Letter “E” also stamped on stock just forward of the butt plate. Nice semi-bright smooth metal. Mechanically perfect. Walnut stuck with a light coat of varnish; mint bore. Nice Rifle-Musket!
