Item Code: R20406

This Gettysburg artifact from the Civil War is a relic condition Federal cavalry picket pin recovered north of the Culp Farm sometime after the battle. The iron pin still retains its tie ring / swivel at the top area under the bulb. Pitted and rusted but complete, smooth and and strong, pin was found at an undisclosed location along Rock Creek in Gettysburg. Made of iron, the tall cylindrical pin measures 13” long x ½” diameter slightly-swelled straight shank. A looped iron rein tie-ring wraps around the top portion of shank. Ring has been bent upwards toward the main shank. Ring still pivots and slides easily. Picket pin body is rusted but in non-flaking condition. Pin color is a deep, chocolate brown patina with an overall general pleasing appearance. A fine, excavated Union cavalry relic from the battlefield at Gettysburg.
