This is a classic American manufactured, six shot .32 caliber pepperbox revolver made in the mid-1850’s. The top side of the bar hammer marked “THE / WASHINGTON / ARMS CO.”, the trade name used by the New York City firm of W.W. Marston, who manufactured a variety of firearms.
The barrel has fluted ribs and is stamped “CAST STEEL”; measures 3 3/8”. The serial number “545” is on the inside of the grip strap under left wood grip. Back strap and side panels have simple floral scroll design. Walnut grips intact. Mechanically perfect, nice dark olive patina.
Once part of Lee’s Headquarters Museum, we originally sold this firearm in our Catalog #28, Item LH34. Has the original museum inventory tag with number “280”.
