Nose and body portion of a US Hotchkiss shell. No base cup, and no sabot. Fuse plug remains but is in deteriorated condition. Three flame grooves are visible along the body of the shell. Surface shows moderate to heavy rust and pitting. Recovered from Gettysburg on the Daniel Lady farm, about 600 yards east of the barn. [jt]
