This booklet was created by Joel Albertus Danner, who created the first Gettysburg museum of battlefield relics named J.A. Danner's Battle-Field Museum. The Danner's Museum was in operation from 1865-1890. The museum was located on Baltimore Street in Gettysburg not far from what is now Lincoln Square. This museum is somewhat mysterious as information about it is scarce. It is known that sometime after 1890 the collection was sold. Front cover states that booklet was sold at Danner’s Museum as well as the Battle-Field Poultry Yards in Gettysburg. It gives a nice overview of the battle, shows points of interest and contains The Gettysburg Address. Back cover features an advertisement for the Battle-Field Poultry Yards.
Booklet measures 4 ½” x 5 ¾”. Text contains twelve pages. Pages have yellowed with age, back cover is loose. Tiny chips are present and bottom right corner is bent.
This is a nice, early Gettysburg souvenir. [sm]
