A .58 caliber “minie” ball for rifle muskets is mounted to a small wood star. The varnished piece of wood is about 3/8” thick and measures 2 ½” across widest points. Lightly visible, “GETTYSBURG, PA” is rubber stamped in black ink to the right of the bullet on the front. On the back, “Gettysburg / National Museum” is lightly stamped in the same fashion. This is typical style of early souvenirs from the shops in and around Gettysburg. [jet]
