The book’s first theme is the story of the African-American people who formed a part of Adams County’s early history. Their contributions and history have remained unheralded in many ways, but in photographs their story is now presented. The second theme revolves around the 18th-century Hollanders of the Dutch Reformed Church who settled in the county, as well as the Scots-Irish and their contributions to the community. The architecture and history of Hunterstown, Cashtown, Fairfield, McKnightstown, and Orrtanna are all presented within a cultural and historical context.  [LD]
