Nicely matted, unframed 14” x 11” display with burgundy suede matting with gold Florentine trim. this features several small strands of Lincoln’s hair, a small fragment of wood from Ford’s Theater, and a fragment of the gauze bandage from his death room at the Peterson House. Also included in this display is an image of Ford’s Theatre, and an image of Lincoln in the Peterson House surrounded by his advisors as he lay on his deathbed.

The strand of hair originated from a lock of his hair sold at Christie’s Auction House in 2002, which was a gift from Mary Lincoln to Caroline Wright, wife of the governor of Indiana.

The small fragment of wood was in the original Ford’s Theatre and later salvaged during an early restoration. It  was removed from the back of a piece of wood removed during one of the early renovations in 1865; it came out of an old Civil War collection in Chicago, IL.

The gauze fragment originated from the Herman Rudd Collection in Buffalo, New York and was previously in the collection of the Holland Purchase Historical Collection.  After being mortally wounded, Lincoln was carried across the street to the Peterson House, where he died the next morning.

Comes with certificate of authenticity attesting to the provenance of these items.    [ld]
