Isaac Dyer was commissioned Lieut. Col. Into Field & Staff of the 15^th Maine Infantry, 12/17/1861, promoted regimental colonel, 8/26/1862, then to Bvt. Brig. Genl., 3/13/1865. Discharged 9/13/1865. His unit, the 15^th Maine, was dispatched early to Dept. of the Gulf, participating in the 1864 Red River Campaign and the Battle of Sabine Pass. Transferred east, they were present with the 18^th Corps at Bermuda One Hundred. During service they lost 5 men killed and 343 by disease for a total of 348.
