Anthony is sitting in a chair wearing an officer's frock coat. Major shoulder boards are visible on his shoulder. The backmark is Brady of New York. All four corners have been clipped.

Born in Ireland, Anthony enlisted and was commissioned as a Major Co. I, 16th Pennsylvania Infantry on 4/26/61; mustered out on 7/30/61 at Harrisburg, PA. On 9/23/61 he was commissioned into Co. F, 96th Pennsylvania Infantry as a Captain; resigned on 7/31/62. On 8/15/62 he was commissioned into Field & Staff of the 129th PA Infantry as Major. He was wounded on May 3, 1863 at the battle of Chancellorsville and was discharged on 5/18/63 at Harrisburg, PA. Following the war he was a railroad and mine superintendent. He died in 1885 in Dauphin County, PA and is buried Mount Cavalry Catholic Cemetery in Harrisburg, PA.   [LD]
