Many of these are Civil War canteens with the old sling keepers removed and others added and a new cover put on. This canteen is the smooth side version with a pewter spout, two triangular sling keepers and a cork stopper with chain attached at the neck. The face of the cover is clean with a bold “US” at center while the reverse has staining throughout with a letter “B” done in ink or marker at center. Front has a moderate crease running through the center otherwise it is solid and in good condition.
