Pattern 1858 smooth side canteen with tin spout as made by the Cincinnati Depot.
The body of the canteen is in good condition. One side has a small bent at center while the other has two at center. Body is covered in a light brown colored jean type material that has some scattered staining.
All three sling keepers are present. Tin spout has faint initials “M R” scratched into it. Original cork stopper and ring is present.
Cloth sling looks to be just post-war, is unmarked and in very nice condition.
A rather nice-looking specimen of a Cincinnati Depot canteen. [ad] [ph:L]
