Large gold frame meas. approx. 42.00 inches long by 18.00 inches wide with a white mat cut in to three separate squares running horizontally. Each cut out meas. approx. 12.75 x 13.00 inches. The center square has a circle cut in it that has been lined with khaki cloth.

The first cut out contains an 1880’s Hospital Stewards chevron. It consists of three green chevrons outlined in white with an arc of dark blue material with a red cross at center. Above this is a 3.75 x 3.75 inch blue square with a green cross of St. John outlined in white.

The cut out on the opposite end of the fame has green Sergeant chevrons with an arc of blue wool at center with a green cross of St. John outlined in white. Above this is a 3.75 x 3.75 inch blue square with a green cross of St. John outlined in white.

The central panel with the circular khaki cut out has 24 medical pins spanning from the 1901 to World War Two. Five of the insignia are the gilt 1901 Medical crosses meant for wear on the collar of the white enlisted uniform. Then there are six Medical caducei from the 1930’s that have unit numbers superimposed over the center of the insignia. The unit numbers are 3 (there are two of these), 6, 8, 10 and 18. Next are three World War Two era caducei with dark or bronzed letters, there are two with the letter “D” for dental and one with an “N” for Nurse. There is also a plain gilt caduceus from World War Two and a dark caduceus with a gilt intertwined “ANC” for Amy Nurses Corps that dates from World War One. Lastly there are six gilt Keystones with a Medical caduceus at center flanked by the letters F. H. with a number above. There are three for the 1st Field Hospital and three for the 2nd Field Hospital. The Keystone obviously represents the Pennsylvania National Guard.

All the metal insignia and cloth insignia are in very good condition. The wire for hanging the piece has come loose on the back but can easily be repaired. This is a great display of military medical insignia.
