Pattern 1864 US cartridge box in good condition. The outer surfaces of the box exhibit light wear from age and use. The outer flap has light to moderate crazing throughout. The embossed “US” in an oval is faint. Latch-tab has both a copper rivet and sewn attachment and is in solid condition. The inner flap is in nice shape and has both ears. Stamped at bottom center of the flap is “WATERTOWN ARSENAL 1864.” Interior has both of the original tins and a complete implement pocket in good shape. The bottom of the box has both roller buckles and round brass finial. The leather under the roller buckles is slightly dented showing that the box was used. Reverse is in good condition with both belt and sling loops. The belt loops show some light wear.
