Standard early war, black leather cavalry box, measuring 3.25 x 2 x 7.5”, with front flap attaching to bottom finial flap, along with reverse belt loops, and roller buckles. Includes Interior implement pocket with flap, behind which is larger pocket with flap, containing wooden twenty holed cartridge container. Leather is cracking throughout, with considerable flaking of front flap. Inner cartridge flap displays place-name “Chicopee/ Mass”, centered on lower edge. All stitching is tight, as are Roller buckles and reverse belt loops. Wooden cartridge contain is in fine shape. In all, a solid specimen of the early war carbine cartridge. Cavalry collectors take note. [jp]
