Wood framed pack covered with waterproofed canvas like is often seen on Civil War issued haversacks. Pack measures approx. 15.0 inches long x 4.0 inches wide x 13.75 high. One of the three blanket straps is present at top. Neither of the closer straps is present while one of the two buckles at bottom is present. Most of the upper shoulder straps are present as well as rivets but lower straps are gone. All of the above mention straps are in fair to poor condition. It is very rare to find one of these packs with any of the straps present. Outer flap is marked in white paint “33 Sep; Co.” Underside of flap has been stenciled with black paint “20”. The two inner flaps are in good condition with all four blue cotton ties present.
The 33rd Separate Company was a part of the New York State militia. [jet]
