Presented here is a set of unexcavated, intact, brass cavalry spurs commonly used during the Civil War. These spurs are the large size, about 3½” across the boot opening. The pair is void of any visible markings and do not appear to be Federal regulation. Each side shank ends in strap loop cutouts with squared inside corners and slightly rounded outside corners. Not cracked or bent. Inner side of both cutouts show old file marks on the brass surface. Both necks have a fourteen-tooth, iron rowel attached to the neck. One rowel has one tooth missing. Both necks are similar but one has a slight downward bend to it and has old file marks on the shaft. Rowel drift pin on one neck has been replaced by what appears a copper rivet. Both rowels spin freely. Spurs measure approximately 4¾” long.  Brass wears a pleasing bronze patina. These original brass spurs are military style and could be a great cavalry collectable and would make a fine addition to any Civil War cavalry display or collection.
