This fine example of early New England handmade ladder back chair has a nice patina. The seat is a hand woven rush; it is a replacement done long ago. Three pieces have broken but seat remains very sturdy. Dark stained mahogany wood shows scattered small surface nicks and scratches. Slats and dowels remain tightly in place.
Chair measures 38” total height. Seat is 14 ½” from the floor. Front of chair measures 19” wide, back measures 14 ¼” wide. The legs were cut down long ago.
This chair is a great artifact to display from Colonial America. [sl/ld]
