The sides are detachable at center by the use of two tongue and groove joints. When detached one side has the folding spoon and fork while the opposite side has the knife.

The condition of this particular piece is good. There is some discoloration from age and storage on the spoon bowl and fork. The knife has been sharpened numerous times and is worn down. The wood handles are in good condition with minor surface scratches.
