This is a regulation tin cup of the Civil War-era. It is constructed of heavy gauge tin with rolled lip on top edge, bottom attached by solder, and handle attached by a single rivet on bottom and two wires on top. This cup is in very solid condition. It does exhibit evidence of heavy use with the usual dents and what appears to be burn carbon residue. There is hole in the tin handle at about the “thumb spot”. This has not affected the strength of the handle. This is a very nice Civil War, wire-bail handle, cup that definitely looks like “it was there”. [jet]
