Hardtack cracker meas. approx. 3.00 x 3.00 inches and is 95% intact with a small piece missing out of the lower left corner and the top level across the rest of the bottom is chipped.
There are five rows of holes on the face of the cracker. They alternate between rows of three and two holes.
Written on the cracker in period ink is “SEPT. 28, 1898 WAR WITH SPAIN AND UNITED STATES.” Ink is strong and easily readable. [ad]
